Santander Welcomed the Cruise Ship Ambience on 11 May

Santander welcomed the cruise ship Ambience, operated by Ambassador Cruise Line, yesterday, 11 May, during a new call that once again positioned the city as an attractive destination for cruise tourism in northern Spain.

The vessel arrived at the Almirante quay (Maritime Station) at 7:00 a.m. and remained in the city until 9:00 p.m., giving passengers the opportunity to explore Santander and discover some of Cantabria’s main cultural, gastronomic and natural attractions.

Coming from Bilbao and continuing its journey to Gijón, the Ambience called at Santander with up to 1,900 passengers, most of them British, as well as around 600 crew members on board. The ship, with a length of 245.1 metres, is one of the flagship vessels of Ambassador Cruise Line.

The visit brought activity to the local economy, especially to shops, restaurants and tourism-related businesses, as many passengers spent the day enjoying the city centre, the bay area and excursions across the region.

Double Cruise Call Scheduled for 19 May

Cruise activity in Santander will continue on 19 May with a double call featuring the Silver Spirit, operated by Silversea Cruises, and the Diana, from Swan Hellenic.

These new arrivals reinforce Santander’s growing position as a cruise destination on Spain’s northern coast, thanks to its strategic location, modern port facilities and the wide range of experiences that Cantabria offers visitors.
