On Saturday, 23 August, Santander welcomed the first-ever call of the Borealis, a cruise ship operated by Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines.
Measuring 237.7 meters in length, the Borealis arrived at the Estación Marítima from Southampton and remained alongside from 09:00 to 18:30, before departing for Bilbao. The vessel can accommodate up to 1,680 passengers and carries a crew of up to 615, with a majority of guests from the United Kingdom.
As this was a maiden call, the traditional plaque exchange took place on the quay, with representatives from the Port Authority of Santander, the ship’s agent Pérez y Cía., and the City Council.
Operations and guest reception were coordinated smoothly by the Port Authority of Santander (APS) with the support of Police and Guardia Civil, ensuring a safe and efficient turnaround.
Santander continues to strengthen its position as an attractive port of call for international cruise lines, offering visitors a warm welcome and a gateway to discover the best of Cantabria.
