Cunard’s Queen Anne Makes Its Inaugural Call in Santander

The iconic British cruise line’s impressive ship arrived in the Cantabrian capital on 28 October, bringing more than 3,300 passengers to discover Santander and Cantabria.

The Port of Santander welcomed the magnificent Queen Anne, operated by the prestigious British cruise line Cunard, on Wednesday, 28 October 2026, marking the ship’s first-ever visit to the city.

Measuring 323 metres in length, Queen Anne arrived from Bilbao early in the morning and berthed at the Almirante Quay, right in the heart of Santander. The vessel brought approximately 3,350 passengers, predominantly British, and 1,200 crew members.

During its stay, passengers had the opportunity to explore Santander’s cultural attractions, historic streets, shopping areas and renowned gastronomy. Others joined organised excursions to discover the natural landscapes, heritage and unique experiences that Cantabria has to offer.

To commemorate this inaugural call, representatives of Santander Cruise Deluxe welcomed the ship’s captain, Inger Thorhauge, with a traditional commemorative plaque and a selection of books about Santander and Cantabria for the ship’s library. Queen Anne departed Santander at 6:00 p.m., continuing its voyage towards Gijón.

Santander strengthens its position as a premium cruise destination

The arrival of Queen Anne represents another significant milestone for Santander’s growing cruise industry and reinforces the city’s appeal to prestigious international cruise lines.

Through Santander Cruise Deluxe, a joint initiative of the Port Authority of Santander, the Government of Cantabria and Santander City Council, the destination continues to promote its excellent port facilities, central location and outstanding range of cultural, gastronomic and natural attractions.

With its cruise terminal just a short walk from the city centre, Santander offers visitors an exceptional opportunity to discover the city independently, while Cantabria provides a wealth of shore excursion possibilities, from prehistoric caves and picturesque coastal villages to spectacular mountain landscapes and world-class gastronomy.

The inaugural visit of Queen Anne further consolidates Santander’s position as an increasingly attractive port of call for premium cruise tourism in northern Spain.
