The Port of Santander has successfully concluded the 2025 cruise season with a total of 20 cruise ship calls, reaffirming the destination’s steady growth and increasing visibility within the European cruise market. This positive result reflects the continued efforts made to position Santander as an attractive, high-quality port of call on northern European and Atlantic itineraries.
Looking ahead to 2026, the port authority anticipates exceeding 30 cruise calls and welcoming more than 50,000 cruise passengers, a figure that would represent a new milestone for cruise tourism in Santander. This projected growth underlines the rising interest shown by international cruise lines and highlights the destination’s capacity to accommodate larger volumes while maintaining a premium visitor experience.
In line with this expansion strategy, cruise vessels will be given priority berthing at the Maritime Terminal, ensuring smooth operations and seamless port logistics. This commitment reinforces Santander’s focus on service excellence, operational efficiency and close collaboration with cruise operators.
With its privileged natural harbour, strong port-city integration and access to authentic experiences in the heart of northern Spain, Santander continues to strengthen its position as a distinctive and competitive cruise destination, well prepared for sustainable growth in the years ahead.
