The cruise ship Spirit of Discovery calls at Santander with nearly 1,000 passengers on board

On September 24, the Port of Santander welcomed the elegant cruise ship Spirit of Discovery, operated by the British company Saga Cruises.

The call took place at the Almirante berth, next to the Maritime Station, where the vessel remained from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., giving its passengers the chance to explore and enjoy the city and its surroundings.

With a length of 236 meters and more than 500 crew members, the Spirit of Discovery brought 999 passengers on board, most of them British nationals, who spent the day ashore before continuing their journey.

Arriving from Bordeaux, the ship departed Santander in the late afternoon bound for Lisbon, as part of its itinerary along Europe’s Atlantic coast.

The presence of the Spirit of Discovery highlights Santander’s growing role as a key cruise destination in northern Spain, attracting an increasing number of companies and international travelers who find in the city a privileged gateway to discover the culture, gastronomy, and landscapes of Cantabria.
