Castro Urdiales, the third most populated city in Cantabria, with about 32,000 inhabitants, is a historic coastal town with great tourist value.
Located 75 km from Santander, it has among its attractions the most important Gothic monument in Cantabria, the Church of Santa Maria de la Asunción. Also noteworthy is the lighthouse castle, one of the few medieval castles preserved in the region, and several buildings such as the Palacio de Ocharán, or the Royal Building.
